Oeyeondo Evergreen Forest

Information

Being designated Natural Monument No. 136, the evergreen forest behind the village of Oeyeondo is a valuable resource that allows visitors to appreciate numerous plants present on the southwestern islands. In a relatively small area of 3ha, the forest is densely packed with various trees, so visitors can hardly see the sky. The forest includes camellia trees that have been preserved for centuries, evergreen broad-leaved trees, and large deciduous broad-leaved trees that have grown for hundreds of years. Notably, two camellia trees grown from different roots are connected seamlessly in the air and are the trees of love. The legend has it that a couple that passes through these trees can realize their love.
